[Rules Clarification] Axis Tilt Check for Turns Seems Misapplied on BGA

Post by DarioZac »

I'd like to raise a rules interpretation issue that seems to be implemented incorrectly in the BGA version of Sky Team, specifically regarding turns and axis tilt validation.

According to the official rulebook, as soon as the aircraft moves forward on the Approach Track, the axis tilt must match the requirements of all spaces entered or passed through during that movement.

However, from what I’ve observed in the BGA implementation of the game, the axis tilt validation for turns seems to be triggered only when the aircraft moves past a space requiring a specific tilt, rather than when it enters or passes through that space. This feels similar to how aircraft traffic is handled in the game, but it contradicts the rulebook’s intent for turn validation.

Could someone from the dev or mod team confirm whether this is a known issue, a simplification, or perhaps a misunderstanding?

Thanks!

As far as I have noticed the axis check is done both when you enter a new space and when you pass a new space.

Can you give one example (game number and if possible also move number) where you think the rules are not followed correctly?

[Edit:] Perhaps you have a misunderstanding. Take your latest game,
https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=708602251 ,
for example.
When you moved the airplane the first time (for two spots with 6+6 and axis still horizontal) you *passed* a space where your axis had to be horizontal or tilted right and you *entered* a space where you had no axis requirements. Thus your move was successful and you did not crash.
The next space - which is still in front of you(!) - requires to tilt your axis to the right. The bottommost space you see is *not* the space you are positioned at the moment but is the space that you will enter in one of your *future* moves.

[Edit of Edit:] I was wrong. After re-reading the rules the bottom space indeed is the Current Position and not a future position. But the rules for axis say (englisch rule book):
When you perform the Advance the Approach Track step,
if the airplane’s Axis is not in one of the permitted positions in the Current Position screen, you lose the game...

If you look at the image acompanying this paragraph you realize that it is the Current Position you are about to leave that matters *not* the Current Position you will land on.

Summary: The rules are correctly implemented on BGA.
