Why is all this effort and support for a change that nobody wanted? We didn't have people complaining that they dislike the old look and desire a new one to be implemented, because the traditional one of the published game is unbearable, did we? So why? Is it some legal issue that the management wants the game to pretend to be reskinned or something?
I think this is a very simple situation: the publisher has printed a new physical 2025 edition with what they surely have spent significant resources on "reskinning" in order to increase sales of the physical boxed game. If you're not looking to buy a new physical copy of Kingdomino, your opinion about this redesign is irrelevant. In any case, it should be addressed to the publisher, not BGA.
BGA is a digital implementation of the physical product, so obviously the 2025 edition will be default.
Fortunately for us players here on BGA, the BGA admins have successfully been allowed by the publisher to keep the 2016 edition as an option for those of us who prefer the graphics we know and love (myself included!).
BGA is the best boardgame site in the world, and it wouldn't be possible without the commercial aspect of displaying the latest edition of the published games. After all, playing games on BGA functions as advertising for the physical products, and I for one am extremely happy that the BGA freemium model works so well that we don't have to endure popup or sidebar ads.
