You have a strong bias towards people who go to the forum to complain. You'll never know about those who are happy with the change and never bother visiting the forum (there may be thousands, there may be none).
Why is all this effort and support for a change that nobody wanted? We didn't have people complaining that they dislike the old look and desire a new one to be implemented, because the traditional one of the published game is unbearable, did we? So why? Is it some legal issue that the management wants the game to pretend to be reskinned or something?

I shouldn't bother more myself, I'm thankful that at least I have the option to keep the old look for myself, because I love the game. But I'm just curious.

I think this is a very simple situation: the publisher has printed a new physical 2025 edition with what they surely have spent significant resources on "reskinning" in order to increase sales of the physical boxed game. If you're not looking to buy a new physical copy of Kingdomino, your opinion about this redesign is irrelevant. In any case, it should be addressed to the publisher, not BGA.

BGA is a digital implementation of the physical product, so obviously the 2025 edition will be default.

Fortunately for us players here on BGA, the BGA admins have successfully been allowed by the publisher to keep the 2016 edition as an option for those of us who prefer the graphics we know and love (myself included!).

BGA is the best boardgame site in the world, and it wouldn't be possible without the commercial aspect of displaying the latest edition of the published games. After all, playing games on BGA functions as advertising for the physical products, and I for one am extremely happy that the BGA freemium model works so well that we don't have to endure popup or sidebar ads.
Our games make you think! https://Simplicatus.Games is an independent publisher and distributor of indie tabletop games.

Well, I think the new graphics are prettier. The old one looked more like a children's game

I think we clearly have overwhelming majority of people who prefer the Original (and if you analyze the stats internally - keep in mind you have strong bias towards people not even bothering or not knowing how to revert, who are just enduring the new look, without liking it more); so I'd suggest the Original (2016) look becomes the default and the New (2025) look is kept only as an option for those interested in it.
Sorry to necro this thread, but after playing a couple games as a new BGA user, I was wondering how I did so badly compared to our physical version at home. Turns out the old graphics work just fine for colorblind people and the new ones are trash. Glad we have an older copy. Your hint about being able to make the change while observing is a lifesaver. Thank you!

Wow, I am really glad I saw that there is an option to use the old graphics. The 'new' graphics are TERRIBLE for people with slight colorblindness. I had zero issues with the old graphics and the new ones are very difficult to tell apart (they used new colors that are unfriendly to color deficient individuals).

I also struggled with the new design due to partial colorblindness. The green and yellow are more pronounced for me in the 2016 graphics. Glad I was able to revert!
