Kicking a player at THE end of a game

Post by aurel56 »

Hello,

I make several tourmanents on many games : Agricola, Caverna, Project Gaia.
It happens often that a player does not have any more time, but the game is going on, may be even 2 weeks sometimes.
But arriving at the end of a game, when another player realises he won't win, he kicks the first player who is out of time.
Another example just now https://boardgamearena.com/1/agricola?table=758896877

As tournaments game have some players from America, Europe and Asia, I understand it is complicated for everyone because of time.
But I would like to put a malus to players waiting for the end of the game to kick players that don''t have time any more.
I saw it too on a Project Gaia game a few weeks ago, this is ridiculous, and seems a "bad loser" habit.

What other players thinks about it ?

Instead of looking for a way to punish someone for something they are allowed to do, configure your tournaments with the new setting that disables the ability to kick someone.

Maybe you can consider that no one kicked him, the game simply ends because there is also a limit so the tounrmant can go on.
I ee that th game lasted 30 days which is the limit made by the tournament rule.

It looks like there were two players out of time, and it was one of those two who skipped the other's turn: https://boardgamearena.com/gamereview?table=758896877 at move 765.

The rule should be: If "completion percentage of game" is greater than "percent of total time used", then nobody can be kicked for running out of time.

I.e., if you've used 50% of the time and the game is 10% complete, go ahead and kick the slow player. If you've used 70% of the time and the game is 90% complete, then you shouldn't be allowed to kick someone.

Why though? Why do you want to grant certain players more thinking time than others?
If you cannot manage to finish a tournament game in time, you shouldn't have started in the tournament.

EDIT: Ok, I think you are coming from the multiplayer-situation described in the beginning of the thread. Maybe then your suggestion makes some sense, but only for games with more than 2 players. It's still a little odd as it might end up with some players eating up much more time than others. And you would certainly still need some mechanism to teach those delaying players that it is not acceptable to go over time. Actually, in the suggested system, one player gains more time the faster the others play.
