… and it’s still annoying af. Just blocked a good player because I can’t gain anything by winning against them anymore. (I noticed this after the 7th consecutive win when both got 0 Elo points …)
Get your act together BGA and finally fix this abomination.

...

As usual, feel free to post your feedback, we will continue to monitor the current situation and improve the system accordingly.
These changes are a first step towards a more enjoyable overall experience for ranking on the platform and that we heavily rely on your feedback during this process. We acknowledge the existing limitations in the current system and will continue to explore ideas for enhancing the team or cooperative game experience.
It's been two years and just shy of an extra week now.

This doesn't mean that things will change everytime someone says something on these forums. But when players talk about an issue, I'll bring it up with whom it may concerns on the BGA side.

As suggested, I'll read on these 2 topics but I am sure that members of the team are already aware of the ELO and Red Thumb concerns from the Community.
Hey, now that it's been a couple of months for you, let me show you this topic. From the looks of things, you may have missed it. Looking forward to your response.

Another baffling situation. In this matchup, I had 7 consecutive wins before a loss, with the ELO gains gradually smaller until it's 0 for the last 2 games. Why? The opponent is a strong expert, eventually he beat me, and then he gets the full 18 points reward. However, during the win streak I did not get the proper ELO rating. Why am I penalized for winning? This is utter nonsense.

To give my experience on this, I am simply the best Strands player in arena right now, just look at my game history.

My winrate is very high.

So the consecutive victory thing on the surface has the justification that "we don't want you to just beat one player, we want you to beat everyone".

But when i DO beat everyone, I simply get hit with the consecutive victory penalty versus all of them. What am I supposed to do?

Was there an update to the ELO system in the past few days? I heard rumblings about consecutive wins now giving at least some ELO instead of capping it.

Nope, I just got my 6th consecutive win against another player, and the reduction is -100%.

Is it not possible to play a "friendly mode" game without ELO loss anymore? I notice when you toggle to friendly mode and then start the game it toggles to "normal mode with friends" and ELO is back in the game. I've noticed this with several games: TM, F.S., Cartographers.... etc. Several of my friends have tried to start a true friendly mode table as well and we can only play with ELO gains or losses. Is this a new update or a bug? Thanks!

ETA: It seems the issue has been resolved. Thanks!

One last thing that is going to be changed in a few weeks will be the impact of the Red Thumbs.
You can currently give a Red Thumb to any player with which you had a bad game experience. This prevents you from competing against them in ranked games or the Arena, but not in Tournaments.
This system can, and unfortunately is, used to prevent some players from competing against the best players. Considering that the Red Thumb system is being abused this way, on purpose or not, we will update the way Red Thumbs are impacting the matchmaking for the next season.
When this change will be implemented ?

In the game Bonsai, which doesn't have a large community, we have a top player who has blocked all the other skilled players—even though he's never played against them—so that he only faces players with very low ELO ratings. So he's shamelessly grinding away. This isn't very fair to the other skilled players who are competing against each other, and it skews the arena.

It would be a real shame if someone made a smurf account to pair against them :)
