It would be good for BGA to show how long a tournament is estimated to take, so people know what they sign up for, but other than that, why is it your problem if people want to play a tournament that lasts years?
A far bigger problem is all the Heat tournaments where the duration is set so unrealistically low that the majority of the matches end up timing out, and there is no way to change the duration once the tournament has started, so the useless races that will never finish just go on and on and on. Now THAT is ridiculous.
It is good that there is an estimation, but then it should be a correct one. The new screen lay out is giving a very incorrect picture.
My problem with tournaments that would last for like 10 years is that it is ridicolous. Abnormal that it is even a possibility to set something up like that.
My other problem is that there is no tought about it. It is just putting settings to the max and then saying that it is a fine job for the community that someone is making tournaments over here. If it were tournaments with normal settings, i would be happy about this, but these setting, also for all the other games, are nonsense in my opinion without any tought.
So my problem with all these kind of tournaments is that people are not showing up anymore. Because maybe they misread the settings (yes their fault), maybe playing much less on BGA after two years and are not committed anymore etc. And then the tournament is dragging even more on and taking the max amount of time.
So yes, a more normal setting would not cause that problem.
Your last point, making tournaments with to low time, absolutely agree with that. Then again, making tournaments with to low time settings, you also dont understand then what are normal settings for the current game and for a tournament of that game.
As far as i see it,there are always enough people who are commited to certain games, that are making tournaments for those games.
Then it is unneccesary that people, who are far less commited to a game and do not understand what normal settings are for a tournament, make those tournaments in my opinion.
Leave it to the people who are playing that game and understand it.
