After years of online board gaming here, I am done.
Even leaving my premium subscription unused.
The people who maintain this website simply don't care about the users.
Even after so many years, the lagging issues have not been fixed, especially complex games like Wingspan keep getting random errors.
Almost every other day, there is some downtime.
Besides all these basic bugs, their random number generator is extremely poor.
There is practically no benefit to high ELO players if the games do not follow basic Gaussian distribution of dices.
Its a lose lose scenario in the arena, win 10 games with hardwork, ELO jumps by 20 points, lose one game due to poor luck, ELO drops by 40 points.
Moreover, they do not admit publicly but there are hidden mechanisms coded inside the games to make it more interesting and increase the engagement.
For example, for the birds which pick food from the birdfeeder in wingspan, it happens a bit too often that all possible dices roll except the one compatible with the word, I have analyzed my 500+ games statistically and the occurrence of these events is not random at all.
Weak players get high point bonus cards in last moves just to keep the engaged.
The management says that the code is open sourced in public, but how do we that whatever is in public repository is the same code that is deployed in the backend?
I have personally worked in gaming companies and almost all profit making companies (especially those who deal with card based games) try to tweak the games in some way or the other to make games interesting and keep low ELO users engaged; I won't be surprised at all if that is the case here.
Anyhoo, like it has happened with many other users in the past who have tried to point of these issues, either my post will be deleted by the admins or I will be banned.
I am not even sure if this post will exist once I delete my account or not, but still giving it one last try as I love the board games but hate this website.
Toodles!
