Voting Hazards Should Be Majority Rule, Not Unanimous

Post by FSKFSK »

I played a game where one person stubbornly refused to vote with the majority (who turned out to be right), on the hazard card "guess the best player's hand rank". Everyone's clock expired and we abandoned the game. This should also apply to the hazard "guess a card in the best player's hand".

Why does it require a unanimous vote? It should be majority vote, especially after a minute was wasted deliberating.

It also seems unfair that one player can force everyone else to run out of clock and get the -1 karma penalty.

I think the same should apply to voting to use a power. It should be majority, not unanimous.

I dislike the majority option since regularly the minority is right.

In some others games you ask everyone to vote (mostly for the first player), and if not everyone agree, you ask everyone to vote again. You either do that until that change, or you choose a random vote or the majority after X try.
And that's better for turn based. [edit: you shouldn't play that game turn based lol]

Here, you could do the same, two normal vote, then random betwenn all majorities.

I wouldn't like the majority rule either. I've seen it enough times, where one person picks something then a majority of people follow them, until one person choose another option which is more plausible and everyone switches. One example, I've seen multiple times, is where nobody hits anything, so people start by choosing high card, even when the board pairs, until someone notices and choose one pair or two pairs, depending on the board.

As for timing out, you can vote again repeatedly even for the same option to up your time. So, this is a non-issue. It took me a while to figure this out as can be seen from my many time-outs for The Gang because of other people ;)
