Arena player not acccepting the start of the game

Under the old system, if someone afk'd while in Arena queue, they suffer a ratings penalty for a loss, which is a disincentive to not do it. Under the current system, there's no penalty for afking while in Arena queue.

Yeah, that's because now the moment you are supposed to be ready to play is once you've clicked accept. Before, you had to be ready the moment you started the search.

So to give players a penalty for taking too long to accept seems at odds with the new system. Might as well never have changed the system in that case.

OP didn't ask for penalty, just to inform other players, so if someone keeps joining arena but never accepting, they can red thumb them

I don't think red thumbs prevent you from matching with someone in arena. Otherwise players could use them to avoid playing against opponents who are stronger than them.

I can tell you 100%, red thumbing someone prevent you for matching him in arena (which is not a very good thing for a competitive mode).
My original point was not "how to avoid people", really not, my point was how to """"punish"""" people who register arena and then AFK.
Some game take like 3-10mn to fin the required number of player and then when it start, always one guy not there so you quite easily loose like 30mn per playing time per day just for that situation.
I know it is game dependant cause in some game it start in less than 10 seconde but in game like King Of Tokyio or Bang it is really an annoying behaviour.

Red thumbs do exactly that. I am aware of one game in which a player nearly won an arena season by Red-thumbing the top two players.
