Agreed on Turmoil makes games faster. When everyone is familiar with an expansion (no need to additionally explain what each politics does etc) it gives more resources and more interesting moves for us. It gives much more above that single -1 TR every generation and random disasters which influence you could minimize.

Eh, I am definitely not a fan of events in general, and the ones in Turmoil are no exception. Sure you can mitigate, but that only changes direct cost to opportunity cost. After a few generations, players are at least partially locked in to their strategy, and then events just randomly help some players and hurt others.

But it is still better than Venus, thanks to the other good things included (politics and policies). Venus has no redeeming features at all.

I like Turmoil 2. It's like a million times better than eating venus floaters for 3+ hours, and I also don't like venus milestones and awards. Sometimes you just get it for free, and sometimes you can't even if you try. I don't like that like at all, I like to play with my friends over the table, and yeah I have some nightmares playing with venus, it's not fun when you draw trashy venus cards for couple gens and just watch your friends not only get the venus milestones and awards that should be yours since you kinda are the one with all the venus cards, while you just stuck and doing nothing but trade on colonies. We ended up have to toss all the venus cards out and play with prelude, colony and turmoil. I like to rush all the greenery in one go on green, or draw card with science when I am rich. With Turmoil, I rarely get stuck, because I can just get really good energy on events or Calvin things like that.

Yeah, with Turmoil we finish way faster, especially with colony, it was very apparent when playing over the table, I think it's because we ended up stalling waaay less since you have to trade, delegate and do other things. You have to get your actions out so fast rather than do one thing at a time. It's cool, maybe they designed the expansion with that in mind, so you have to do things fast and not slow play.

Colonies were released over a year ago, i think its good time for venus to be implemented. Alot of players have 300-400+ games i think we need some more variety.

I've played with all the official expansions in person and I'm personally not a fan of both Venus and Turmoil

On top of the venus corps i.e. Manutech points, I dislike how Venus allows the first player to push one parameter every gen. Obviously this makes the game end quicker but why tf does the existence of Venus automatically make mars terraform faster? Makes no sense lore-wise. And then the cards Venus introduces just screws up the deck and the V combos are underwhelming, when the venus track is not a win condition and the game is terraformed quicker, there is even less incentives to go for V combos. Sure there are cards like stratospheric birds and strong animals but you are required to push the venus track and when you finally get to play the cards the game is already ending.

I also quite dislike Turmoil because I find the events really annoying. Sure some events give resources but the opportunity cost of playing those cards just to get the resource is not worth it when you are already set on a different strategy, and similarly you cannot "remove" cards you already played to avoid the penalties of the event. Ok, I know there are influences that affect those events. But its just like the colonies expansion where there is cards like trading colony (granting +1 trade level, so corresponding to turmoil cards that permanently give +1 influence) that is just quite broken for the game. Then when you add all the expansions (and all new preludes) together there is that one card that gives +2 trade level and then that allows you to add resources to the prelude that allows you to draw more preludes...
