Could be something weird with the company. Who knows?
I started wondering if they weren't willing or able to pay appropriately and so the artist phoned it in, but then why not just refuse the commission so your name isn't tied to it. So I dismissed that train of thought as unlikely, but I suppose not impossible. Or maybe they didn't care. No way to know what's in their mind or what happened behind the scenes.
Speaking of the character cards, I am now rethinking my belief they were all human drawn. They are otherwise good so far, nothing screamed out to me and I didn't look too deeply as a result, but I just encountered this hand with 6 fingers (or poor shading adding a finger). Maybe it's just an error, but would a human artist make such an error and not correct it before final?

On the box art, she has 5 fingers, but the headband is purple instead, and the black headband on the card just stops abruptly above the ear at a right angle, nose is pointy on card, rounded on box art. It got the mouth to match though. Any one difference might just be an error, but with multiple differences I'm second guessing my thinking that the character cards were human. At least this one is suspect. Or they just rushed through things due to low pay or whatever.
