So they neutralized the game instead of getting a win and givin a penalty to the other player... I'd say they were very nice.
It's not what actually happened, but in that comparison, I don't see any difference personally.

I mean, I just took OP at their word. Even now, they are still denying that they got expelled.

However, this player did something else. He continued to play the game with me all the way until the very last turn of the game. At this point, he realised he was going to lose in the final scoring, and decided to still execute his right to quit the game, resulting in a loss and karma penalty for me.

I'm sure this was already asked and answered, but how did you still end up in negative clock after being given a mulligan and playing through to the end?

If you were negative clock and your opponent didn't expel you, why wouldn't you utilize that second chance and get your clock back into the black and keep it there?

okay, so:

1) OP went negative earlier in the game, and opponent was gracious by not expelling. (Good choice by opponent)
2) OP then made more moves, playing the game until near completion, and was 8 hours in the positive on clock. (Good choices by the OP).
3) OP then, on the final turn, failed to click "confirm pass" or "confirm end turn". (Error by OP)
4) As a result, it was still OP's turn, but OP thought it was not. (Error by OP)
5) 8 hours later, OP's clock is at zero.
6) Opponent then wait another EIGHT hours of not expelling the OP. (Good gesture by opponent)
7) Eventually, the opponent expels the OP. (What else is the opponent supposed to do at this point? OP has now gone into negative clock a second time. Opponen graciously allowed OP enough moves to get back into the black. At that point, OP had full control over whether there was ever another opportunity to be expelled by opponent. OP failed to utilize the second chance.)

If it's my turn at the end of a game, I get a red number in the yellow clover-shaped symbol at the top right, next to my profile picture and the blue friends icon.

None of this matters if the opponent had an interest in finishing the game. Whether OP did something wrong is a totally independent matter.

You may think someone should be reported or want to red thumb them, but what does it have to do with quitting the game or expelling them? If you care about finishing a game, you could be playing against the worst person on Earth, and it wouldn't make any difference to your wish to finish it.

The reality of the situation is that the opponent didn't care about finishing the game fairly. It's not like they visited a seer who told them that OP would never come back, so they might as well expel them. The hope existed that the game could be finished, yet they chose to end it on the final turn no less.

True, but why would the OP allow this situation to happen? There was no emergency, OP didn't need to step away from the computer.
OP was just careless and could have easily prevented this.

I don't know why, but it's a separate topic. It doesn't justify anything, it doesn't help me understand why the opponent would ever want to kick them out. The only explanation is that the opponent just didn't care about finishing the game.

While OP can criticized, there is no need to focus on that aspect in this thread, because it's not the topic. OP created the thread to criticize the behavior of their opponent, and that behavior remains wrong no matter how OP acted during the game.

It's like OP is saying, you are all trying to distract from the issue because OP happened to make mistakes or do careless things, and you focus on that when in fact this doesn't change anything about what their opponent did. Sure, OP may have been inactive for half a day. So what? To someone who cares about finishing a game, that would never be a reason to end it. The real issue is not OP's time wasting, it's the opponent's mindset.

Also, if the opponent suspected OP may have inadvertently thought the game was over, they could have written in the chat "hey, you haven't been playing for a while, are you aware the game is still on?" If OP was logged on, they would have seen the message pop up on their screen.
