Wouldn't people then be complaining that the Joker isn't really giving them 4 more days?

I'm not sure why we need to rewrite the way things work to cater to OP specifically. They say they signed up for a fast game, but the people who are using the Joker signed up for 4 more days and for a game mode that offers them sleeping hours, so 8 days in total. The complains work both ways.

No, it would be one specific person making the outlandish claim that fast turn-based games should be extended by 8 calendar days, while regular games are only extended by 4 calendar days.

I don’t know if terms like fast and slow are specified anywhere. I’ve heard people say it, but I can’t find it listed anywhere on the site.

The games are specified cadences of play and sometimes playing hours, and Jokers are advertised as giving 4 days. The latter would have to be overhauled to satisfy OP’s demand, and I’m not sure there is enough justification for that.

When people use a time Joker, they usually don’t care if the game they are in is slow or fast. The idea is that they may have things going on preventing them from playing, and if you arbitrarily reduce the time they get in one case but not in another, they may feel it’s an unfair difference that partly defeats the point of having Jokers.

So one signed for table with game speed as described on table options, others didn't, and are trying to cheat that with time jokers. Already used 3 and gave themselves 24 extra days to cover that they can't play with that speed, but of course both have right to complain  .

I have description "fast turn based game" every time i create "play by mail" table with 8 and more move per day options.

I’m evidently not defending cheaters, just the ones who use them for normal reasons.

When someone uses a Joker, the speed of the table is irrelevant because the duration of their inconvenience is not proportional to that speed. The two things have nothing to do with each other.

You’re only looking at it from the perspective of the other player being annoyed. But the person who used the Joker deserves to have their emergency addressed, and for their allotted time to be the same regardless of the type of table they are in.

The whole discussion about percentages of time added makes no sense in this context. When Jokers are used, you accept that they may change the type of duration you signed up for. If you’re not okay with that, then it’s the concept of Jokers as a whole you disagree with.

@ tbhp

No. I only reported bug that time amount is different for fast play by mail games and non fast games. I never said that time jokers aren't needed. I had emergency few times and used them to cover that. Once I used it to defend against stalling in arena games. I know what those are designed for. What I did I reported bug and described situation how TJ can be abused.

Rest is just your theories and tries to include something that isn't there and darken the matter.

But as has been explained in this thread, that part is not a bug. The fast games you refer to have a 12 hours sleeping window. When you see 8 days added to them, that’s actually only 4 days of effective playing time. The other 4 days don’t count since they are in the sleeping window, which the person didn’t sign up to be available to play during.

If you go to the Time Joker interface found on the games in progress page, there is a purple graphic that says "Starting September 29, 2026" and "Ending October 3, 2026".

I think the intention is clearly to add 4 calendar days to the game, but feel free to file a bug suggesting they add "or October 7, 2026 for fast turn-based games".

Meeplelowda wrote: ↑29 September 2026, 16:30 Or do want them completely disabled? When you say "people creating and joinig expect to go fast" and imply that using a joker does not "meet the conditions they agreed to," it sounds like what you really want is for jokers to be disabled at fast turn-based tables.
No. Fast game are suppose to go fast. And for fast games time joker doesn't give SAME AMOUNT of real time as for non fast games, doesn't give LESS, that would have some logic since those are FAST. It gives TWICE MORE. So people joining fast games, gets TJ that slower game twice more then non fast game. You are ok with that logic?

Exactly the opposite. When you add 96 hours to TIMER, that gives extra 8 days of real time to play, because in fast play by mail games timer only runs 12 hour per day. Shivaware and FrankJones already pointed that out.

What time joker is suppose to give? 4 real time days to cover emergency/vacation/think time or add 4 days to artificial timer variable? My answer is known.

That’s what the graph suggests, but then why is the implementation different?

Personally, I’m not sure why the Joker wouldn’t be intended to account for the sleeping hours. When someone receives 4 days, they would probably expect 4 days of effective playing time. If the sleeping hours are included, it would feel like you got robbed of those 48 hours for which you didn’t sign up to be available to play.
