How would you play in person with friends?
If you had a friend who quit playing every game as soon as he figured he coudldn't win, you'd stop inviting him.
I can definitely see this point.
But playing on BGA is not (no matter how much they claim to make it) exactly like playing in the physical world. I often don't play with friends, but with random people who were looking for a game the moment I was looking for one. In the physical world I am much more likely to get acknowledgement that I exist in the form of at least a response to me saying, "Hello, have fun." Not so much here.
Then, this will cause havoc for the people that do specifically want to play only for rank. Being forced to play when there is no change in the final result will cause problems. While arena mode was supposed to separate the people playing for rank from the people who are playing for other reasons, I'm unsure if it is wise (or even technically feasible) to change the concede function to check if the game is for arena points or not.
