Well, it is probably based on a mocking stereotypical caricature of a black man. That character doesn't even have teeth.

I'm not sure when "no teeth" became a black stereotype.

Nor did I say that it is.

I can see why some people don't like the lips but I can't see why the turban or lack of teeth get a mention.

I don't think unflattering pictures of black people should be an issue just ones based on racial caricatures.

No, I genuinely don't get your point.

I can understand why some people don't like the lips but aside from that I cannot see anything in the avatar that looks like a racial caricature.

Not having teeth or wearing a turban aren't racial stereotypes of black people.

The fact that the avatar is unattractive (point of view) is neither here not there. Are only attractive black people acceptable?

Bad teeth or the turban isn't the focus of this issue. What looks like an overtly racist depiction of a black man that mirrors the caricatures of the Jim Crow era, intentional or not, is.
