Thanks for your feedback, 2 news changes:

Letter Tycoon: Automatic challenges + 1 retry + 1 doubling ability maximum + 3 players (according to polls on Letter Tycoon forums)
Draftosaurus: Summer/Winter

Note: to change Arena setting, the best is to create a poll on game's dedicated forum, so we can gather the opinion of many of you.

Thanks for listening to our voices!
Still a little bit disappointing, cause 2p options gained as many votes as 3p options and still only 3p is available for Arena.
After all, it is hard to even find a proper match in real-time with 3p, so not getting a match after waiting 1 hour or more is so frequent.
Can the player number setting be reconsidered? Alternating like Stone Age or 7W would work brilliantly.
Created a poll for clearer result though: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... 20&t=20532

Edit: Seems alternation to be a popular option.

The 'time' wins at the very final end of the season changes the arena points and so the final leader-board. Is this really justified ?

Especially in multi-player games you can open many tables as possible, take your turn as fast as possible and almost be guaranteed a win. This makes a bit of a mockery of all the properly completed games that makes everyone's score up to that point.

There is a visible leader-board for 3 months and then suddenly in a split second, right at the end - everything changes...

I understand the previous argument of players dragging out lost games, but this doesn't solve the problem only makes a new problem. There is always a set of players that will try and find loop holes, for most of the time it is NOT actually designated as cheating. It's a bit like the off-side rule in football, once a rule exists - players actively find ways to exploit it.

I don't know the solution, I'm just saying that this rule isn't fair either.

Not only this but this makes an 'equal placement' calculation for all games and introduces the exchange of ELO\Arena points for tied players. A very long running issue that is still here.

Arena games are too easy to manipulate and play with your friends and or use multiple accounts. It shouldn't really be up to people to try and police and then report players. It's very unlikely that moderation will actually take effect and just creates more work for everybody with nothing but a bad taste in your mouth for everyone involved.

Your 'timing' settings will streamline your games into tables that never start. If you play with only 8 moves a day, then you can sit back and watch multiple people join your table only to then disappear as multiple tables all start on the default setting of 1-move-per-day. If your table does start then it will be the same players you played with before. The timing setting has actually inadvertently become a 'streamline/filter' setting. Not only a problem in itself, but this is another system that can be easily abused.

A radical idea change would be a very large swiss format style competition (qualification & finals). It will solve all of these problems. It would put a very much more intense final few games end to the season.

Thanks for the update - I'm excited for more arena!

I have a probably-easy question about achievements. Do we only get one of the 'Arena Top 20' style achievements if there are a certain number of people playing the game? If so, how many players is this? Are *any* arena achievements dished out for these games where not so many people reach elite rank?

thanks for the new season
I think there are long games needed less players (3 i think is perfect, not 4) because its hard to meet games in arena for example Abyss, Puerto Rico or Marco Polo.
Another thing is in games for example Stone Age its a crime when its not pair season only two players its really better 3 or 4.
Then Tokaido its really better game with the expansion and i think for draftosaurus is better too summer+winter all times
there are possibilities for blue skies or troyes (3 players is perfect) to meet more players in arena???

DrClick wrote: 06 April 2021, 12:29 At the end of Season 3, we stopped all turn-based games in progress, and a lot of you were frustrated by this. For the end of Season 4, we did things differently:
  • The rule remains the same: player who consumed the most time during the whole game (= player who is the most reponsible of the delay) is losing the game, and his/her Arena rank will be modified accordingly.
  • However, the game itself can continue in training mode. It means that you can finish the game if you want to, or leave it without penalty if you don't want to.
Thanks to the players who suggested this solution that we found to be the best compromise.
No, no, no.

This is not good. I was #1 in Arena for Tablut for pretty much the entire season, and I know I learn that the person in 3rd spot suddenly ends a bunch of games and jumps over me right at the last second!! This is impossible to predict and plan for.

And it looks like they had a bunch of Arena tables playing in a lot of different games and this last minute 'time' win on open tables means a certain climb in rankings and gaining higher finishing positions than deserved......

https://boardgamearena.com/player?id=86 ... astresults

I can't see how this is fair.
NEW TACTIC: end of season open as many arena tables as possible.....
Same happened to me. I was 2nd on Red7 Arena and:
- the 3rd ranked player had 1 game open that he was loosing and will loose as friendly game.
- the 6th ranked player had 2 games open and it was loosing on one of them (and he already lost 2 or 3 hours after arena finish).
For arena both players "won" that games, even if they was loosing. The guy that was at 3rd finished 2nd, and the one that was at 6th finished 3rd and I ended up at 4th place.
This is completly unfair because those guys was loosing their games and those games said 2 days for each player. So I couldn't even control their time. At end, I lost 2nd place by 4 points and 3rd place by 1 point.

So basically the 2nd best player on this season of Arena finished in 4th place. This is an unfair rule that should be removed.
And if not, there should be a timer to warn who would win the arena points if a game don't finish before the end of the season.

This is the table: https://boardgamearena.com/halloffame?g ... 3&season=4

What's worse is that ElerCant won his games by beating the same two friends repeatedly to get that ranking as well.

There's a bug report here to get that sort of behaviour restricted: https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=38062
I just noticed the same thing. And not just beating them,, but winning by conceding games...this is the definition of king making
Well, I guess I have to reply to this (and this only) and clarify - there was no kingmaking, for sure, in any of my Arena games. There's a system of replays available, so anyone in doubt can check easily - all my games were real, with real people, real moves strategy involving, and those in question were conceded when it was an obvious win. Like in Tablut - you don't have to eliminate all the whites to make king to move into the unavoidable capture, it's just a waste of time. And time is of importance on the last day, of course - I was just one or two games away from one more trophy. ;)

By the way, two more trophies were lost to real cheaters in result... One of them is noticed blaming me here and might want explain the amazing fact of winning the game from a player who was CREATED some 90 minutes ago and boosted (by, one might guess, another fake account of a longer age) to be available at Arena.

At least all my opponents are real persons with a strong desire to win... just with much less experience in board games, sure ;)
Not to boast, but if there's a way to see who else won a Nobel prize (https://boardgamearena.com/award?award=57) in a while? Somehow "latest winners" are not mentioned in this category...
