One more thing - I don't think I've exploited "a bug" too. Some misclarification in the rules - maybe, but it's just the reason to update the rules a bit.

Not necessarily by forbidding to play with same person during a season - for less popular game it might be a crucial hit. But a further XP reward reduction is a possible way to discourage wasting time for those who are not interested in the game itself but in the easy ELO boost.

Another way is similar to that Swiss system: once in the top 20 you can only play with those in top 30, in top 10 - with top 20s only etc. Probably not so easy to implement, but this way you'll have to start earlier in order to climb up, and those who lose won't be able to help before beating some more loosers, which would take too much of an effort even for multiple-accounters.

When games time out at the end of the season, can the games still impact ELO rather than revert to training? There is little incentive to finish a training game and the system doesn't alert you that the game is in training mode.

There seems to be something quite off with the Terra Mystica season this time. Gold league has been removed (ie it goes from silver to elite) and both elite and gold players were downgraded to silver between seasons, when in all previous seasons gold would have been downgraded to bronze. Furthermore, the gold players did not go down to silver 1 but had the number of shields they ended the season with (ie gold 9 moved to silver 9 whereas the elite players moved to silver 1). Surely these changes are not intentional? They just don't seem right. Can it be fixed?

Turbo Mode for Haiclue in Arena Mode appears to be favored:

What's worse is that ElerCant won his games by beating the same two friends repeatedly to get that ranking as well.

There's a bug report here to get that sort of behaviour restricted: https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=38062
I just noticed the same thing. And not just beating them,, but winning by conceding games...this is the definition of king making
Well, I guess I have to reply to this (and this only) and clarify - there was no kingmaking, for sure, in any of my Arena games. There's a system of replays available, so anyone in doubt can check easily - all my games were real, with real people, real moves strategy involving, and those in question were conceded when it was an obvious win. Like in Tablut - you don't have to eliminate all the whites to make king to move into the unavoidable capture, it's just a waste of time. And time is of importance on the last day, of course - I was just one or two games away from one more trophy. ;)

By the way, two more trophies were lost to real cheaters in result... One of them is noticed blaming me here and might want explain the amazing fact of winning the game from a player who was CREATED some 90 minutes ago and boosted (by, one might guess, another fake account of a longer age) to be available at Arena.

At least all my opponents are real persons with a strong desire to win... just with much less experience in board games, sure ;)
Not to boast, but if there's a way to see who else won a Nobel prize (https://boardgamearena.com/award?award=57) in a while? Somehow "latest winners" are not mentioned in this category...

I hate the beta version of Takenoko, the hate the gardener has to be on the improvement to collect objective. Hate the use immediately and hate the fact that a cage can be added to a plot with bamboo.. Used to enjoy playing it, not any more.

lavic wrote: 06 April 2021, 16:05 I hope you made improvements to Arena points and matching algorythms. Current system hugely discourages playing by the top players... We're all in the elite league, so there are NO *bad* players around. Even if differences in skill were 90:10, the luck element means one in five games will be impossible to win against even a moderate player. Hence, playing against a player with a large ELO difference, one risks 36 points to gain 4, and it's just not worth it because high-ELO-difference matches are just too common. I've been second and third in Race 4 G, but only because I refrained from playing once I attained the status and the ELO differences in matches became large (I'm not sour grapes - my current R4G ELO is 630, ranking 4th overall).
I'm agree... Also read here...

No 2 players should be able to create multiple Arena tables together. Not only only would this stop friends from playing in multiple tables, but I've just opened 2 Arena tables in Tablut and I'm playing against the same player, this is not the desired outcome for either of us.

Not sure where best to publicise this to other Go players in Arena, but I've created a poll to add komi (white compensation points) to next season's configuration: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... 38&t=20575
It's very strange, as every other competitive Go game is played with komi to compensate for first player advantage.
