As we already stated, penalties are also up to your previous moderation history.
The moderators have a supervisor that is checking pretty much everything.
You can ask for a double check of your moderation, but in most cases, the penalty is justified.
When moderated, do not look at other users accounts- look at your own, because every moderation is done for each specific user depending on their own history.
Once again, you have the email address and contact form to reach out to us. These issues have no place in the forums as they are mostly based on users behavior, and their privacy should be maintained.
Appeals are checked with your profile history: we don't answer appeals when they are not submitted respectfully (i.e : if they contain bad words, insults, etc).
Too many users try to argue over what is an insult or not, what's good or not, and this leads us to never-ending email exchanges.
We can't handle these as it is usually unjustified, or mostly trolls.
But when we are wrong, because yeah, it can happen (read too fast, clicked the wrong button), we are willing to adjust the moderation.
Moderators are volunteers, they are checked by our moderation staff and validated by our CM.
Most difficult cases are discussed about internally with the moderation team, and goes up to the admins whenever it's needed.
On a daily basis, 98% of the moderation appeals are coming from users who were acting badly, complaining about moderation for no good reason, or to mess with the moderators team.
Also, we are getting stronger skills concerning insults, even when written in different languages or slang.
As long as there are no bad words written on anything we are moderating, we will try to solve the issue.
Whenever you write insults or bad words, expect a strong moderation.
We have kids here. And we care.
