No. Keep doing what you have been doing. There was nothing wrong with it. This downward spiral of catering to the most sensitive portion of a population is getting out of control.

Hey, for what it's worth, I've played a few games with you over the past month, and I've always (I think?) said gg at the end of them, and regardless of the outcome of the game, it's just what I thought was a neutral way of saying "I had fun playing this game with you (or several yous)". I did not intend offense or to pour salt on a wound or whatever. I just did enjoy the game, as I enjoy almost all of them, because I am obligated to play primarily virtually because of life circumstances, like to acknowledge the humans at each end of the interaction, however briefly.

I mean, I just got beat 90 to 38 in 1v1 Beyond The Sun, which wasn't even a score or a score gap I thought possible, but it felt weird to me not to acknowledge how well my opponent had absolutely dominated not only their own strategy, but found time to cut mine off at the knees repeatedly. But I don't know how to say "I swear I mean it" other than to assume good faith unless someone shows me otherwise.

I wasn't referring to you in particular, and my interactions/games with you have always been pleasant. The original post is more about players who congratulate you for a good game when it clearly was only a good game for them, not for you: for instance, if it's a miserably one-sided pounding, and the winner says "gg" well before the game's over, which seems more of a rude nudge to the other player to hurry up and let them win than a genuine thank-you.

So one thing about BGA is all the chat notifications. I get notifications that make it seem like my opponent left one final remark, but when I check it out, it just says "Opponent has left the game." Kind of annoying, but that's what it is.

When I send a quick "gg" to my opponent at the game's end or right before (regardless of outcome), I am being a good sport about the game AND trying to not waste time. I'm usually on to the next game right at the end, and I really don't want that final notification that the player has left the chat/game.

"Gg" means "good game" but does not literally mean that the game was good. In youth soccer in America, you have to shake the hand of every single opponent while chanting good game over and over. Win, lose, doesn't matter. "Gg" at the end of the game is just this. Perfunctory and polite sportsmanship. If it comes a few seconds before the end, I would chalk it up to not wanting to waste time, which is a byproduct of the times we're living in.

First of all I must say that I completely understand when so many people say this is such a pointless and even unhelpful debate... But I didnt have the chance to participate on the previous threads and I cant stop myself!

What I do is, out of the gate I ALWAYS write "glhf." I hope this covers my bases towards a winning GG not being taken as arrogant. About 1 on 5 people reply back. With the repliers there is no dilemma, they always get their gg at the end of the game in all outcomes. Now, what happens with the non-repliers?

1- Completely mute opponents in both winning/losing scenarios. No worries, they will get their GG on both outcomes. Some of the winners reply a gg after receiving one.
2- Losing opponents who reply GG back. These people are ANGELS. They immediately get a green thumb from me
3- Winning opponents who's only message is a gg. Ok, this is kinda annoying, but their main defense is that you dont know if they would gg when losing. 9/10 I give them the benefit of the doubt and get the gg back (1/10 for those extremely lucky games or if im salty/on tilt. Im not perfect)

However, no one here has mentioned the ULTIMATE MONSTER. The slimy lowest of the low who should die by a 1000 (paper)cuts

You learn to recognize them. When you play the same games over and over you start to remember names/avatars. Nothing sets me up more on a murderous rampage than a guy who I have beaten many times before and always been mute suddenly GGing you out of the blue on their first win. The other case is finally beating a player who always had the upperhand on you (and always got their ggs from me) and suddenly forgetting how to gg. The first case, of course, is way more egregious and surely a reason for execution in more advanced societies. GGers only when winners deserve to hit their pinky toe with the bed every morning and biting their tongue/inside mouth at every breakfast

Isn't it the opposite, saying "gg" results in precisely the time-wasting annoying chat window having to be closed? As far as I am aware, "Opponent has left the game." never pops up if nothing had been said in the chat at all.
