This poster gives a good example of how that rule is consistently broken. When a player alerts their partner to kill them they are telling them that they cannot survive to their turn (telling what cards are in their hand). People also just flat out ask if it is ok to attack another outlaw which should be prohibited according to the creator.
Remember: "kill me, my teammate" is bad words as author says in FAQ while "I can not survive to my next turn, my teammate" is good words as we dont tell about cards or strategy.
ChiefPointThief wrote: 07 October 2024, 17:12 Furthermore, isn't the fact the people need to read some random post on some random site to know what is acceptable within the game problematic itself? What the creator wrote in the post that keeps getting referenced isn't the same as what is printed in the faq of the game. This causes discrepancies within the community which is the biggest problem to me. Everyone should be following the same rules.
I learned about this rule on BGA after a few years of playing irl. Neither Russian nor English printed rules prohibit saying anything like that.
ChiefPointThief wrote: 07 October 2024, 17:12 This dialogue right here shows the problem. AVTactics is playing the game how they believe it is supposed to be played based off of words like you say from the creator. So if this person is on your team you are at a clear disadvantage compared to two ppl who are saying whatever they feel like.
Golden words, bang is a team game :)

From Official Italian Championship Tournaments Rules, point 2:

Translated:
(it is forbidden):
"give the other players repeated instructions on the actions to be performed at the table, for this purpose
to play in their place or forcibly guide their choices".

So, you cannot suggest targets, suggest wich card pick up when General, ask if is ok to kil someone, suggest wich action is active, and so on.

Okay, the rules explicitly forbid to talk not only about the cards, but also about anything that can affect the game. But. It is rules of tournament with a limited number of games and players, where everyone competes with everyone else for bang-dollars. In addition, the tournament requires a judge to ensure that this rule is followed.

There is no judge at BGA. BGA also has its own ELO calculation system. I think players, which support this rule, should find judges and bang-dollars for us all, and then force others to play the way they play :)

AVTactics wrote: 21 September 2024, 00:23 I like these rules and I do follow them. Many other players do not. I dont see how to control over players on BGA. Report everyone? Im not hiring for moderator. I understand that control over rules and players is made by other players when we talk about board game, in real offline world but in online space I feel tired always trying to control other players who often dont want to play a specific way, who prefer to play the way they want to play. In other words online games as being a coded programm has to have coded obstacles as moderator (for example an invisible wall which simply doesnt allow players to move where they shouldnt move by the rules).

From my experience the most oftenly breaking rule is about not telling/asking about kill an allie and get 3 cards. It happens left and right on BGA.

The best I can do is to follow the rules myself, which I do.
In order to spread the culture of this game it's important to follow the same rules not because BGA players at a table are o aren't judge or moderator, but simply because it's the correct approach to play. And I think your approach is the right one AVTactics.

I personally lost some game only by choosing to not reply to questions at the table: sometimes people don't know the rules and some other times people are not interesting to know them. Once a team mate asked to me if I had a BANG in hand - I suppose in order to play "Indians" - and after I replied to him that I shouldn't reply to him, he offended me and drive us deliberately to the lost

PS.

Talking/Writing in chat: talking "at the table" is part of the game, as is lying about your role. However, as expressly specified by Emiliano Sciarra (creator of Bang!) on boardgamegeek.com, there are 2 exceptions that are good to know:

1) You CANNOT say/talk about the cards you have in your hand;
2) You CANNOT directly ask/order another player whether it is okay to play a card or not.

---
Rules
Talking/Writing in chat: talking "at the table" is part of the game, as is lying about your role. However, as expressly specified by Emiliano Sciarra (creator of Bang!) on boardgamegeek.com:

1) One "cannot say which cards are in your hand, nor you can ask directly another player whether he approves the playing of some card or not" (SOURCE: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/282531 ... lk-and-bga)

2) One "may try to tell other players what to do: if they will obey, on the other hand, that's up to them (as well as finding a way to explain their behaviour...)" (SOURCE: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/147495 ... 7#20986387
---
