Hello BalGAmor, and congrats on your 'new' job. I check forums only once every couple of months so just learning about this now.

First of all, it is a positive development that you are answering posts from other players on this topic. This is something we didn't see for two years and rubbed many of us the wrong way, to the point we discontinued our premium memberships and disengaged with the community somewhat.

I think the recurring frustration is due to the fact that dozens of players spelled out exactly how to fix this issue in the 100-page topic on ELO adjustments, there was near-unanimous consent as to the solution, and yet nothing was done AND nothing was even said about it. As mentioned, even a statement like "Thanks for the feedback, but we're not going to change it back because reasons" would have been better than nothing. I think the community felt disrespected that we laid out the path for you including the exact ELO computations, and heard nothing. So our expectations that ANY of our feedback would be considered, after that played out the way it did, was very low.

Seeing as how that issue is clearly the largest issue to the community, a symbolic demonstration of your commitment to player engagement would be to consider our recommendations on the ELO issues (and Red Thumbs, also woven into that discussion). I realize reading 100 pages is a chore, but you can probably get the gist of it in less than 60 :P. My thinking is that you'll have to deal with this before any of the older players who remember ELO-gate will take you seriously.

Just wanted to lend my voice to support other posters. Just because we don't reply, doesn't mean we are happy with how it was resolved. For me, I'm happy to pay for a service when I see that the number one issue in the last two years was taken seriously.

Is he really? It seems like there was an initial flurry where he was responsive, and now has resorted to the 'we will let you know when something changes' which is the same old story from the time before him, and is code for 'we're doing nothing with this issue'.
BalGAmor wrote: 06 October 2025, 13:28 More than keeping players happy as you said, part of my job is to make sure your voice is heard.
Despite the promising words, there has been zero progress with the ELO issues. It is a big deal for many players, and it wouldn't even be hard to fix, so it's completely baffling why it has not been addressed FOR YEARS.

I will engage in hot topics as well as lighter ones. I will share some news, popular and unpopular, on the evolution of BGA whenever there is something to be shared. And I hope we’ll get along just fine, as I am sure that someone as involved as you has a lot of positive stories and points to share with the rest of us.
The ELO issue is clearly bothering a lot of players, it would be easy to fix, yet nothing have been done and you don't communicate either. If you meant what you said as your role as Lead Community Manager, this should be your #1 issue and you should stand up hard for it to be handled properly instead of this 'I will let you know if there is a change' followed by months of silence.

So this was posted in another thread, but I couldn't help but chuckle...

Do you really? The ELO issues have been addressed in a completely constructive manner: players made clear arguments, carried out a detailed analysis and literally spelled out how to make a working implementantion. Yet nothing has been done for almost 2.5 YEARS. Your above statement is a stark contradiction to that.

Why should I worry about identifying and classifying various aspects of a bug and figuring out who is responsible for which part from BGA's side? I don't even understand the term 'development issue'. I don't know the internal organization of BGA either. My point is, once I have reported the bug and given all details I can, I shouldn't have to worry about any of those, it should be handled by whoever is responsible from BGA's side. If a single person fixes every issue, that's OK. If various personnel handle the different aspects of the bug, that's also OK. But if they do not fix the bug entirely, that's not OK.
It's quite simple.

BGA developers handle issues related to the BGA framework.
Game developers (often volunteers or freelancers) handle issues related to their games.

ELO adjustments are not handled by developers. We deal with technical aspects of the platform and game implementations, not with individual player requests.

Thank you for the explanation, but it isn't helpful for the specific situation. Let me elaborate. I got negative Arena points for a win. I reported it as a bug, expecting two things: (1) fix the root cause, as in, it won't repeat, (2) give me my Arena points back. A BGA admin claimed they did (1), but (2) was never done. Based on what you write, (1) was presumably carried out by a BGA dev. (2) also seems like the job of a BGA dev; so why was it left unresolved? In any case, I never claimed fixing this is the job of game devs.

If anything, BalGAmor's comment above seems to imply that resolving (2) is not the job of BGA devs. Also not the job of game devs. Then whose job is it?

The confusion comes from treating two different things as if they were handled by the same role, when they are not.

Fixing the bug → that’s a technical issue → handled by developers.
Restoring your Arena/ELO points → that’s an individual account issue → not handled by developers.

Developers (whether BGA or game devs) don’t manage player accounts, rankings, or manual ELO/Arena adjustments. Their responsibility is to make sure the system works correctly for everyone.

Thank you. But my question is still valid: why is it my job in the first place to care about which aspects of a bug are handled by which group? We're counting at least 3 separate groups now: game devs, BGA devs and support. How do I even know if that's all or there are more groups? What's more, why should I even care? I hope you can see my point. I reported the bug, describing all aspects; that should be sufficient input from me.
