On first sight, I think it's a great improvement. Thanks for taking the time to further develop this implementation!

The update is a step back, if there was a intention to get out of beta. The hovering board does not show the slots in the lower parts where you can put cubicles. If there is a hovering then one could think it can be moved but now it is difficult. I like the buttons on the left, so that info are just one click away, but the map is buggy, zoom does not work properly and I think the power/stars/hearts bar should be put in a separate div. For example above the map you have the buttons for map or players boards and on the rught side the power/etc bar, still contractible if you want. In this way you separate "infos" on players and stats, from the map. Scythe map can be difficult to remember and/or read, many reasons there most come from the game mechs, so it would be better to avoid to crowd it even more.

Hi, thanks for the hardwork on this update !

There is a lot of good ideas, but the display was too buggy so it was practically unplayable for me (i'll report the bugs in the bug section).
To me, the main issue of the previous UI was the pain it was to collect valuable informations on others players mat like :
- what mech /upgrade have they done ?
- how far are they from reaching their next stars ?
The worker wheres small, but we all adjusted to the size really quickly, so I wouldnt count it as the problem now...

What I like with this new UI :
- all the mats available by scrolling
- shortcuts to each player mat on the left more practical than the previous ones

What I dont like :
- my own mat harder to see. I suspect it should have displayed on that huge translucent rectangle but then it would cover the map even more
- this is not pratical to have to adjust the zoom level and move the board right and left every time you look for information, particularly when the zoom is buggy

What I wish I find in the next update :
- achievement counter (workers/recruits/mechs/upgrade/buildings) under each player ressources counter.

Thanks for the hardwork again !

Thanks for the mostly constructive feedbacks. I will be quickly iterating in the upcoming days so now is the time to say something so please keep them coming.

Are you talking about the faction mat ? You wish to be able to see it without scrolling ? What kind of information are you looking for on it ?
What kind of bug are you encountering with the zoom ?
I have been believing the "achievement counter" would be a nice addition for a while, so I will probably add it soon to the panels.

What kind of issue are you having with the zoom ?
For the tracks, are you saying you would like something similar to the mobile view for them ? That would mean even less part of the map would be visible, right ? Or are you saying you dont want any "floating" element ?

duneFTW wrote: 15 March 2026, 00:55 ... on desktop, I can't see part of my board as it's covered by the actions menu, and zooming is impossible - what have you done? :') It was actually not too bad beforehand.....
I tested it again and I sometimes get the problem that the actions menu blocks the view of the bottom left part of the map - and even zooming (I use the +/- widget in the zoom/view lock control panel), it is kinda stuck there, and I need to zoom out completely, press the "lock/unlock" icons a few times, and eventually I can move the map so that I can see the units in the bottom left part. I think it's perhaps a small bug, slowly I get used to the new layout ;)
Why dont you just scroll down a bit then ? The bottom-left mat is attached to the corner so moving around should make it possible to check all possible part of the map. Or are you saying that you wish to pan the map to see the bottom left part of it in the middle ?

Pitt-2160p wrote: 15 March 2026, 14:40 The new ui is a f...ing disgrace, worse than the previous one in basically every aspect. I truly don't understand how you test it and say: ok, let's roll it out.

Let's talk about the key points:
1) replace red with white -> idiotic, that tone of red is even in the interior of the legendary box and it's way better looking than white.
2) remove the player mat on the right-> maybe the worst of all the changes: having it floating takes an enormous space and hiding it is senseless; moreover you don't have it near your resources count, which is foolish.
3) give the building bonus and various tracks all that space on the right is silly.

I'll stop playing the game until it will be improved or restored to the original layout and i don't think i'll be the only one; i started a 3P game earlier and after 5 minutes we all agree to abort it because of the new interface.
As said in my first topic : 1) and 2) are mandatory changes, so they cant be reverted. About 3), since you can collapse them, it does not take that much space anyway. Where would you want to put them instead ? (take into account that they cant be put on top of the player panels, as said in the first message)
Edward Stibbons wrote: 15 March 2026, 10:24 Sorry, but this "upgrade" is really bad.

I'm playing on an ultra-wide monitor and I still can't adjust the UI to see everything I need.

The zoom function is buggy and I can't zoom out without first locking and unlocking the view.

If I choose to show my pad as floating and click on my faction to see a larger version of the pads, and then close it, my floating tab is empty. The only way to fix this is to delete it and re-show it through the settings.

The floating tab doesn't show the upgrade options at the bottom so I don't know what I can upgrade.
Can you share your screen resolution ? I admit I havent tested a lot of high-res yet so there are probably rooms for improvement.
VanillaBean wrote: 15 March 2026, 03:01 Some points that came to me:
  • I don't know if it's possible to make the floating board transparent so it's easer to see the map behind it and make it opaque when the mouse it hovering over it. (Not sure how to make it work on a touch device--sorry, I don't use touch devices)
  • Having a button to toggle floating and "docking" the player board right on it would be useful, as I can see wanting to change it depending on what I am doing. Hiding in the hambuger menu and behind another button means a lot of clicks!
I don't know if those things are possible, but I think they'd be nice QoL things to have.

Thanks for your efforts!
Thanks for the suggestions, I will test your first idea to see if that's a viable otpion. I do like your second idea. I actually was hesitating between left and right but the problem with right is that there is the chat here, but being able to move it around would solve that issue.
CodiusMaximus wrote: 15 March 2026, 00:55 Interesting UI update. On mobile it seems like the power track is cut off at 14ish power. You can still find the power info listed in the players boards
Interesting, on mobile the tracks should go below the player boards by default, unless maybe you are playing on a tablet ? Can you share your screen resolution ?

Wog wrote: 14 March 2026, 23:50 The new UI is absolute GARBAGE. It was 100% better before these changes.

To elaborate:
- All of my stuff is split up - resources in the upper right, player action board in the lower left. Very annoying.
- I can't use a scroll wheel to zoom in & out. This is AWFUL.
- On a phone, all this is super crowded and everything is in the way. It's almost unplayable on a phone screen.
About item 1, are you saying having counter right on top of the floating element would be better than current situation then ?
For item 2, please just read my post.
Not sure to understand item 3, can you share a screenshot and your screen resolution ?

I've checked again and notice the initial zoom was completely bugged on desktop devices, that's probably what you were talking about, very sorry about that. I've deployed a quick fix that was the intended initial display of UI, please let me know if you still encounter buggy behavior now.
I will work my way on other feedbacks now.

I meant the action mat. I didnt get how to make it appear in the translucent rectangle, so I had to scroll down to my faction+action mat to see the cost of my actions. having the action map always displayed is important, because the cost and benefices of actions change during the game.

I do need pieces of information that are on the faction map : the mech abilities already unlocked ; the recruits bonus actives and the objectives. previous UI had good design for the last 2, but the path to mech abilites of the other players was not smooth. (many clicks away). I think having a visual notification with the ability icon when an ability is unlocked would be enough,

The zoom was quite erractic. the minimum zoom couldnt let me see the entire board until I refresh, but even after refreshing, clicking on a faction map shortcut would lock the zoom at an overfocused level. So I had to navigate to right, left, up and down on the board. I couldnt navigate to the right enough to see my own base (I was Rusviet).

Thanks

Yikes, this new UI is really bad.
Tisaac wrote: 14 March 2026, 22:24 The main mandatory changes are
What do you mean by mandatory? You were forced to make these changes?
Tisaac wrote: 14 March 2026, 22:24 - no extended right side to fit player mat, so you instead have two options now : a floating container in the bottom-left (default on destkop), or just below the boards (default on mobile)
This is indeed the worst change as others have said. I previously could play scythe without having to scroll at all. I had everything on the same screen. Now I have to page down once or twice to see my board. The floating board doesn't even show the upgrade options. And before I had my board right below my inventory, now they aren't in the same place.

Please think about reverting this change. If not, Scythe will be the only game I can't play all on the same screen. And as others have said, a bad UI like this will push players away.

Yeah indeed - the scrolling / zooming whatever we wanna call it bug is OK for me now, at least it's possible to see and navigate all areas of the map now <3

Another thing I realised is that before the update - for upgrades - the small boxes that you can change (from top action area to bottom action area) would move a bit out of the way so that one could see what's beneath, now the buttons covering these areas are stuck and won't move anymore...

Thank you for the quick fix on the scrolling/zooming - now it's literally a game-changer ;)
